Entertainment: B-Town condemns terror attack on Amarnath pilgrims

Bollywood celebrities were saddened and appalled by the terrorist attack on Amarnath pilgrims on Monday evening.

Terrorists killed seven Amarnath pilgrims, including six women, and injured 19 others as they struck at a bus in Kashmir’s Anantnag district, in the worst attack on the annual pilgrimage since 2001.

The film stars sent prayers to the victims of the attack and called it the most “shameful” and “cowardly” act.

Karan Johar to deliver master class at Melbourne festival

Filmmaker Karan Johar will deliver a masterclass at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) to be held from August 10 to 22.

Mitu Bhowmick Lange, the fest’s director, said in a statement: “We are extremely honoured and glad to have Karan (Johar) be part of our festival this year. He is one of the most reputed filmmakers in India and is such a loved personality. We here in Melbourne and people of the city are looking forward for his masterclass which he will be delivering as part of the festival this year.”

This year, IFFM has diversity as its central theme. The festival will showcase over 60 films in 20 different languages.

Velvet Revolution bags Best film award at Kashmir Film Festival

Documentary film Velvet Revolution has won the Best Film Award in the Feature Length Documentary section at the Kashmir World Film Festival.

The documentary is about the challenges that women journalists face while covering conflict regions.

“The 57-minute documentary Velvet Revolution reinforces that there is no longer a red line when it comes to killing of women journalists. Women journalists, like their male counterparts, are also increasingly under attack by state and non-state players as they are doing their jobs,” said Nupur Basu, Executive Producer and project director of the documentary.

Velvet Revolution is a collaboration of six women directors.
