Ajay Devgn: India’s next Chanakya
It seems Bollywood has been inspired by the BJP Chief Amit Shah’s constant reference to Chanakya. Hence a film on Chanakya. Ajay Devgn has confirmed that he will be playing the scholar’s role
Reliance Entertainment and Friday Filmworks’ Plan C Studios on Wednesday announced their next film Chanakya, based on the life and times of this 4th century BC scholar, economist, political strategist and ascetic.
Chanakya will be directed by Neeraj Pandey who made his debut in the Mumbai film industry with A Wednesady! and has never looked back since then. His films like Special 26, Baby and MS Dhoni: The Untold Story have been appreciated as good cinema and have also done well on the box office.
Ajay Devgn who was last seen in Raid, confirmed on Twitter that he will be playing the lead role in the film:
Director Neeraj Pandey said in a press statement that he had been working on this project for quite some time. “I am sure the audiences will love Ajay in his portrayal of the visionary genius.” He added.
Ajay Devgn was quoted as saying, “I am looking forward to playing Chanakya. I have followed Neeraj Pandey’s work closely and I know Neeraj will tell the story with the clarity and passion with which it needs to be told.”
Shibashish Sarkar of Reliance Entertainment said that epic characters such as Chanakya have an everlasting sense of mystery and legend around them and hoped that it will be received enthusiastically by the modern audiences.
Though the date of its released was not officially announced but it will most probab;y be released in 2020.
