Anwar Rao was the only Muslim victim in Tuesday attack. His brother Nadeem Rao says the attackers were Thakurs and they had covered their faces. He was attacked when he was returning from the BSP rally. Anwar was shot at his neck and his condition is serious.

Masiram, who was attacked with a spear on the stomach, is admitted to the ICU. His intestines are severely damaged and his condition is very serious.

Gyanendra, a social activist says, “Dalit Muslims have been targeted in this attack. Thakurs are killing them one by one. Yesterday when they were attacked a police van (dial 100) was also seen there. The number of the van was UP32040979.”


As reported earlier, one person was killed and at least 13 were injured in a fresh spate of violence in Saharanpur on Tuesday. The victims were reportedly assaulted when they were returning after attending a rally by BSP chief Mayawati in Shabbirpur village.
