Following the news of the arrest of star Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar, an alleged WhatsApp video of the arrest of the wrestler by the Delhi Police Special Cell has gone viral on various social media platforms. Two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar was on the run since the death of 23-year-old Sagar Dhankar, former junior national wrestling champion, at Chhatrasal Stadium. Weeks after the incident, the Indian wrestler was arrested on Sunday morning by a team of Delhi Police Special Cell.
The absconding international wrestler was arrested on Sunday from outer Delhi's Mundka area. Along with Kumar, Police also arrested Ajay Kumar, considered to be the wrestler's right-hand man. Soon after the arrest, Sushil and co-accused Ajay Kumar were physically produced before the Delhi Court. Following the proceedings, Sushil Kumar has been sent to 6-day police custody.
Kumar had been on the run since May 5, when an FIR was registered against him under IPC Sections 302 (murder), abduction (365), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) at Model Town police station. On May 4, Sagar Dhankhar, who had competed in the 97-kg category (Greco-Roman style), was beaten to death following a clash between two groups.
