Argentinian football legend Diego Maradona has passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest on November 25. The flamboyant player, best known for leading Argentina to the 1986 World Cup title, was 60.

Maradona suffered a heart attack at his home in the outskirts of Buenos Aires. Earlier in November, Maradona had undergone surgery for a brain clot. He had celebrated his 60th Birthday on October 30.

The Argentine Football Association confirmed Maradona's death on Wednesday and posted a short message on its social media platforms. The association tweeted: "The Argentine Football Association, through its President Claudio Tapia expresses its deepest sorrow for the death of our legend, Diego Armando Maradona. You will always be in our hearts."

Regarded as one of the greatest football players of all time, Diego Maradona was largely responsible for Argentina's World Cup victory in 1986 in Mexico, scoring two famous goals in one game against England in the quarterfinals.

Soon after Maradona’s death news broke, many Indian celebrities took to their social media accounts to pay tributes to the legendary football player.

Shah Rukh Khan shared a picture of Maradona lifting the World Cup and wrote, “Diego Maradona....you made football even more beautiful. You will be sorely missed, and may you entertain and enthrall heaven as you did this world. RIP.”
