Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Manoj Jha said that parliament owes an apology to those who died during the second wave of COVID-19 but whose deaths were not acknowledged

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Manoj Jha said that parliament owes an apology to those who died during the second wave of COVID-19 but whose deaths were not acknowledged. In an evocative speech in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, RJD MP said that those who lost their lives in the second wave of the pandemic have left behind a “living document of our failure”.

Jha began his address with an apology to those who died in the second wave, but whose deaths were not even being acknowledged.

The RJD MP also criticised the government for advertising that it was providing vaccines, ration and treatment for free. Jha said that every citizen of India, irrespective of how rich or poor they are, pays taxes and therefore, it is the commitment of the state to provide welfare services.

Meanwhile, India’s official COVID-19 death toll is around 414,000, the third-highest in the world.
