Several foreign nationals, who live around Arambol, took an initiative to clean the famous Arambol beach and sweet water lake Pavel Boloyangov, from Russia, who runs the ‘Cleanup Around You movement’, along with his friends and others from around Arambol decided to clean up the area and started collecting the garbage.

Over the last few years, due to over-tourism, the area was getting polluted.

Pavel Boloyangov, from Russia, who runs the ‘Cleanup Around You movement’, along with his friends, and others from around Arambol decided to clean up the area and started collecting the garbage.

The garbage was a mix of wood, plastic cups, straws, bags, broken glass and organic waste, which was continuously being dumped by restaurants and guesthouses

These foreigners first approached the Arambol Village Panchayat who supplied them the garbage bags and then the Tourism Department who provided the workers to clean and move the garbage.

The foreigners, under the banner of “Clean Arambol”, first held the drive to clean the Arambol Beach and later took up the cleaning of the sweet water lake.

Besides, they are working on another project of feeding stray cows, by collecting leftovers from people around, including restaurants, guesthouses and tourists

Arambol is a beach village in North Goa and is a popular haunt for foreigners.
