Thousands of people were seen at a popular tourist spot in Goa despite the government imposing tougher restrictions to curb the Omicron variant spread.
A video that is going viral on social media shows a number of tourists walking on a road near Baga Beach in North Goa.
Apparently, the video was shot on Sunday, Jan 1st evening.
Since Goa is a popular destination to celebrate New Year & Christmas, travellers start arriving at the holiday destination from the end of Dec.

As a precaution to curb the covid 19 spread the state authorities had issued directives to hotels, restaurants and casinos to admit only guests with valid vaccination certificates or proof of a negative test result with 50% capacity.
But it seems despite all the restrictions the crowd unknowingly pushed up the COVID-19 positivity rate as the number of people was huge on the streets.
Notably, Goa’s expert committee for COVID-19 management had suggested the imposition of a night curfew, but Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that because of the festive season, it will not be possible to impose a night curfew till January 3.
