Hottest Month, July 2021
Since 1880, the month of July 2021 was the hottest on Earth. US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in its report has said that the global land-only surface temperature for July was 1.40 degrees Celsius above the 20th-century average, making it the highest July land-only surface temperature on record. The previous record was held by Julys in 2017 and 2020.

Biggest airlift, August 2021
In August this year, the United States carried out its biggest airlift in the wake of the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, bigger even than the evacuation of Saigon at the end of the Vietnam War. It airlifted more than 123,000 people out of Kabul, including US citizens and others who supported the US mission. Some 55,000 people were evacuated from southern Vietnam in 1975.
