After Bihar's Buxar, bodies found floating in UP's Ghazipur

In a shocking turn of events dozens of bodies, bloated and in various stages of decay, washed up on the banks of the Ganga in Chausa block of Bihar’s Buxar district. Not only this, similar sightings were reported on the banks of the river in Ghazipu district of Uttar Pradesh. The bodies are suspected to be those of COVID-19 patients who were dumped in the river, revealing the scale of COVID emergency in India.

According to the reports, Over 100 bodies were found floating in River Ganga in Ghazipur. This came a day after over 150 bodies were found floating in River Ganga in Bihar. Locals alleged that there was no wood available for cremation and hence, many resorted to dump the bodies in the river.

Ghazipur DM Mangla Prasad Singh confirmed the finding of the bodies and said this matter had come to his notice. He said he has sent an investigation team to probe the matter.

Meanwhile, India recorded 3,29,942 fresh Covid-19 cases in a day, which pushed the tally to 2,29,92,517, according to the Union health ministry data updated on Tuesday morning. The death toll climbed to 2,49,992 with 3,876 daily deaths, the updated data showed.

The top five states with maximum cases are Karnataka with 39,305 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 37,236 cases, Tamil Nadu with 28,978 cases, Kerala with 27,487 cases and Uttar Pradesh with 21,277 cases.
