With silver medal in men’s doubles badminton by Satwik Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, India eventually finished the 21st Commonwealth Games with 66 medals in its bag; 22 gold, 20 silver and 20 bronze.
India put up a brilliant show at CWG 2018 and bettered their performance from the last Commonwealth Games held at Glasgow in 2018. Glasgow saw India complete with 64 medals which included 15 golds. But what's more heart-warming with respect to medal tallies is that India have almost doubled the number of golds from 2014. In comparison, India finished with 26 gold at Gold Coast this time around. Canada (81 medals), although with more number of medals than India, finished fourth as they had just 15 golds against India’s 26.
But at a time, the Indian contingent was making it a habit to win gold medals, Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore came up with a plot to undermine their performance and credit the Bhartiya Janata Party for the medals the sportsmen and sportswomen won for the nation.
Rathore has directed various sports federations to prepare a list of "the number of medal(s) won by India in international events during the last four years" and "if a comparison is made with medal(s) won by India during UPA govt time".

India’s best performance, however, remains of that at home in 2010. At the Delhi Commonwealth Games, India crossed the century mark of medals with 101 medals under the kitty at the end of the games. Finishing second only to Australia with 177 medals at the Delhi games, India scored 38 gold, 27 silver and 36 bronze, making it the country’s best ever performance at CWG.
