Kohli hails Ganguly’s selection as BCCI President, says hasn’t spoken on Dhoni yet

India captain Virat Kohli on Tuesday said he hasn't had any conversation with Sourav Ganguly with regard to Mahendra Singh Dhoni's international future and believes that the BCCI's President-elect will get in touch with him when he needs to.

Dhoni, who is on a sabbatical from international cricket, is not expected to play against Bangladesh in the upcoming T20 series.

He dropped in to meet the Indian team members and Kohli jokingly told journalists to come to the change room and say "hello" to the former skipper.

After being nominated as the BCCI's President-elect, Ganguly had said that he would like to speak to the selectors as well as Dhoni to know what they had in mind.

"I congratulated him (Ganguly). It's great that he has become BCCI President. But he's not spoken to me about that (MS) yet. He will get in touch with me when he has to. I am sure I will go and meet him when he tells me to," the Indian skipper said at the post-match press conference.

In fact, Ganguly on Monday said that he will speak to Kohli on October 24 as he believes that the decision to opt out of the Bangladesh T20 series, which starts November 3, rests with the Indian captain.

"I will meet him (Kohli) just like a BCCI president meets the Indian captain. It's upto him to decide if he wants rest," Ganguly told reporters.

Speaking to reporters after India's historic whitewash of South Africa in the 3-Test rubber, which concluded here, the Indian run-machine also said Ganguly hasn't spoken to him about anything related to M.S. Dhoni's future.

"I congratulated him (Sourav Ganguly). It's great that he has become BCCI president. He will get in touch with me when he has to. I will go meet him when he tells me to. He has not spoken to me about that (MS Dhoni's future)," Kohli said.

Earlier, Ganguly had said he would talk to Kohli on October 24 when India's squad for the home Test and T20I series against Bangladesh will be announced.

"I will find out from the selectors when I meet them on 24th. I will find out what the selectors are thinking. Then I will put my opinion," Ganguly had told reporters at the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) premises last week.

Asked if a cricketer can take such a long break, he said: "I was nowhere in picture (when it transpired). So my first selection committee meeting will be on 24th."

Former India skipper Dhoni, 38, has been away from international cricket since India's exit from the World Cup after losing the semi-final clash against New Zealand. Dhoni later joined the Indian Army for two weeks and also missed the West Indies tour.
