India has a successful ‘net-session’ before final against Pak

In what looked like an extended net session before the finale, Indian batsmen displayed class and charisma as they chased down Bangladesh’s total of 264 with nine wickets in hand and almost 10 overs still to be bowled.

Rohit Sharma’s magnificent century (123 off 129), assisted by record-breaking Virat Kohli’s 96 off just 78, helped India chase down the pity target with 59 balls to spare. It was all about ‘see the ball and place it perfectly in the gap’ for the Indian batsmen and, with utmost domination, India locked a final clash with neighbours and arch-rivals, Pakistan.

Kedar Jadhav set the victory up for India

After Bhuvneshwar Kumar provided India with couple of early breakthroughs in the form of Soumya Sarkar and Sabbir Rahman, Tamim Iqbal (70 off 82) and Mushfiqur Rahim (61 off 85) threatened to put up a huge total with their free-flowing partnership. At one stage, Bangladesh were 110 for the loss of two wickets with the 21st over in progress.

Captain Kohli, when all other bowlers were being dealt with supremacy by the Bangladeshi batsmen, introduced a part-timer in Kedar Jadhav. The part-timer, with a golden arm, didn’t disappoint his Captain and removed both the set batsmen. In between Jadhav’s two scalps, Jadeja accounted for Shakib Al Hasan and Bangladesh’s backbone was broken. Captain Kohli attacked with all might in the field and Bangladesh was restricted to a paltry 264, which proved to be an extended net session for the Indian batsmen.

Pakistan waiting in the finale

India will now face arch-rivals Pakistan in the grand finale of the ICC Champions Trophy, 2017 on Sunday. India and Pakistan, coincidentally, also faced off in their tournament opener on June 4, where India had outplayed a hapless Pakistan in all three departments of the game.

Pakistan bounced back and are yet to lose a match in the tournament since then and would like to take a sweet revenge from the Indian side. Indian side will mostly be unfazed by the occasion because, in the last decade or so, Pakistan has failed to provide India with any sort of competition.

Virat: the fastest yet again

In the process of demolishing Bangladesh,Indian Captain Virat Kohli became the fastest batsman to reach to 8000 runs. Kohli broke South Africa Captain AB de Villears’ record as the former achieved the milestone in just 175 innings against latter’s 182 innings. Indian stalwarts, Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar, feature next in the list with 200 and 210 innings respectively.

Indian Hockey Team conquer in England too

In their opening fixture of the men’s Hero Hockey World League Semi-Final in London, Asian giants India quashed a hapless Scotland 4-1 in Pool B.

In a shocking turn of events, Scotland took an early lead through Captain Chris Grassic in the sixth minute of the first quarter itself. India bounced back in the third quarter to put the ball behind the nets on four occasions to complete an easy victory. Ramandeep Singh netted twice for India, while Akashdeep Singh’s deflection and Harmanpreet Singh’s penalty-corner conversion killed any chances of an upset.

India will face Canada next on June 17 and, the very next day, they will be up against the arch-rivals Pakistan on June 18. India will face Netherlands in it’s last Pool B encounter on June 20.
