Will Indians in Washington DC ask Modi about lynching?

A message has gone out from the Prime Minister to the Indian expatriate community in the United States before his visit to Washington beginning Saturday.

The mail reads:

“I would be coming to Washington DC for a visit starting 24th June.
During my visit I would be holding talks with President Trump on ways to boost India-USA ties.

On 25th I would be addressing a community programme in Washington DC, where I look forward to interacting with you.

Before we meet in Washington DC, I want to hear from you. Share your ideas and inputs with me on the Narendra Modi Mobile App. I would refer to them during my speech at the community programme on 25th.

The community is having a field day trolling the message. Some expats have commented on the language used (For him, should is more important than will or would*Like many Indians, he doesn’t know the difference between ‘will’ and ‘would’.

Others have been having fun suggesting that the expats ask him about Demonetised currency and when he is going to put a stop to “regular, almost daily, lynching of Muslims.

Some expats who will not be in Washington on Sunday have suggested that expats in Washington ask him about the ‘forest fires in Portugal and the latest arrests for drunken driving in Stockholm’, in an oblique reference to the Prime Minister’s tweets expressing sorrow over the loss of lives in Europe while maintaining complete silence on the violence and rising incidence of mob lynching within India.
