The honourable Madras High Court has ruled that private and government schools in the southern state of Tamil Nadu should ensure that their students sing the national song at least twice a week, preferably on Monday and Friday. The order also says the song can also be played in other government and private establishments at least once a month. The court deems it necessary to instill patriotism in people.
A few days back, JNU Vice-Chancellor Jagdesh Chandra too expressed his desire to install a battle tank in the university so that students could be inspired to be patriotic and nationalistic.
Our country and society is so insecure and vulnerable to anti-national elements that showing your love for the country has now become one of the most important issues to be addressed by leaders and the judiciary alike. It doesn’t matter if you feel it or not, you should be able to flaunt it. And we should be thankful to the government, judiciary and academicians who are ensuring that people can wear their patriotism on their sleeves.
We should also be thankful to all the kanwadiyas who, along with the saffron flag, carried the Tricolour and used it as cloth, bed sheets and motorcycle spread etc. Their contribution in making patriotism and nationalism so popular cannot be forgotten.
If the honourable Madras High Court’s ruling were to be extended to all the states, as some BJP leaders in some states are demanding, then to prove our nationalism, we will start working in our offices only after singing Vande Mataram. Employees of banks, the police forces, MNCs, besides educational institutes, will first sing Vande Mataram in offices. Metros will also start with the national song.
Our house help will come and first sing the national song and then start washing utensils. I will also sing Vande Mataram before entering my kitchen. Or, what’s best is we should greet each other with Vande mataram instead of the very English ‘Hello’ or the very Hindi ‘Namaste’. (Thanks to the Government, Hindi too has some very temperamental haters in the South, so, Vande Mataram can easily sort out the problem at least of greeting each other)
Nationalism should be so deeply ingrained in each of us that even before relieving ourselves, we must always remember the Swachh Bharat Mission of our revered Prime Minister. It’s a must prerequisite for being a nationalist. Even before having sex, lovers (oh of course, this is not sanskari at all) or spouses should sing Vande Mataram. As it is, we should be very nationalistic in choosing whom to love so that we don’t fall victim to love jihad which is threatening Hindutva and India. And that brings me to the birth of a true Indian. A proud Indian mother should chant Vande Mataram during labour so that true patriotic zeal is instilled in her child even before birth.
That is how, a very nationalistic society will be created, and the Tricolour will reach new heights.
