Leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha and one of the seniormost Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge has said that he has been receiving threat calls for months.
Speaking to National Herald over the phone, Kharge said, 'I have brought this matter to the notice of the Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan and union home minister, Rajnath Singh also.'
When asked about the nature of the threats, Kharge did not divulge any specifics.
According to media reports, Kharge has lifted a complaint in this regard at Tughlak Road Police Station in New Delhi and investigations are on.
When contacted, the duty in charge and reader of senior head constable however gave contradictory statements. While Assistant Sub Inspector PK Tyagi said no such complaint was lodged, reader of the Senior Head Constable (SHO) Ravindra Kumar said he could not share any details of the case at this point of time. Claiming to be in a meeting, he cut the call.
Kharge is the MP for Gulbarga, Karnataka.
