At least four persons, including two senior citizens and a three-month old baby, have been killed and nearly 30 residents are feared trapped after a four-storied building collapsed in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar locality on Tuesday.
According to ANI, the rescue operations are ongoing and nine persons have been rescued so far, as local authorities roped in the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to help the relief work.
The control room of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) received a call around 10:43 AM informing them about the building collapse, according to BMC’s fire brigade chief PS Rahangdale.
Around eight fire engines, a rescue van and an ambulance have been rushed to the spot, he said.
"Our rescue team, fire brigade jawans and other senior officials of the BMC have also reached the spot. The rescue work is going on a war-footing," he said.
