A new plea has been filed in a court seeking directions to the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Trust to put up a noticeboard at the Krishna Janmabhoomi temple, saying that the sanctum sanctorum present there is "not the real birthplace" of Lord Krishna.
The suit has been filed by Delhi-based advocate P.V. Raghunandan in the court of civil judge (senior division) Anupama Singh.
The plaintiff's advocate Pankaj Joshi told the media that the case has been accepted for hearing, but no date fixed.
In the plea, the plaintiff has claimed that the "original" sanctum sanctorum of the ancient Keshavdev temple was demolished by Mughal ruler Aurangzeb and the Shahi Idgah mosque was constructed at that place.

Therefore, the petition pled, devotees visiting the present sanctum sanctorum of the Krishna Janmabhoomi temple should be informed clearly that that place is not the 'actual' sanctum sanctorum.
Joshi said that the plea has sought that the court pass an order that a noticeboard to announce this to visitors.
The Uttar Pradesh government, Mathura municipal corporation and the state archaeology department, among others, have been made defendants in the case, Joshi said.
NH edit to add context: The temple had had a noticeboard announcing it as 'Krishna Janmabhoomi' for a long time—which is also implicit in its name.
