Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a rally in Davangere in central Karnataka on Tuesday, February 27. He promised relief for farmers if the BJP comes to power in the forthcoming Karnataka assembly polls. However, a video released by Karnataka Congress shows that only some participants and a whole lot of empty chairs listened to the Prime Minister speak.

The video showing the rather modest turnout for the PM’s rally can be viewed here:

This was PM Modi’s third visit to the poll-bound state in the past one month. The poor participation in the PM’s rally comes closely on the heels of another video showing that BJP President Amit Shah’s rally in Kalburgi (Gulbarga), Karnataka was quite a flop, with masses of empty chairs.

The BJP state leadership has been playing second fiddle to the Modi-Shah duo, who are hogging the limelight in terms of BJP’s poll campaign in the southern state. Alarmingly for the BJP, as the assembly polls draw closer, crowds are not turning up as per their expectations for their two biggest leaders.

Is voter fatigue finally catching up with the BJP’s number 1 star campaigner? The empty seats in Davangere seem to suggest so.
