The new BJP government in Gujarat may initiate legal action against Hardik Patel, the face of the Patidar quota agitation, on the basis of sedition charges-- which the party had promised to drop in the run up to Gujarat assembly elections.
A defiant Hardik, 24, took to Twitter on Tuesday and posted: “The BJP has decided to initiate legal action against me. I am least bothered. I will not step back and continue fighting for the people. They can imprison me but that won’t end the struggle.”

The Patidar leader on Monday had alleged the BJP “tampered” with EVMs and used its “muscle and money power" to win the Gujarat assembly election.
“The old charge of sedition that BJP promised to drop in the run up to election will also be reopened. Orders are being prepared to fast track those cases. Hardik may find his position weaker as BJP succeeded in bribing his lieutenants and Hardik stands alone now,” posted a twitter handle @iScrew, anticipating that the BJP government would once again indulge in vendetta politics.

“Hardik Patel declared that since BJP had rejected demand for reservation and they've returned to power in the state, the original issues remain unaddressed so the agitation will resume. In response BJP government plans to put him back in jail for violating public order during election,” read another tweet.
In the run to elections, commenting on a CD that featured a person resembling Hardik with the woman in a room for a brief period, Hardik had accused BJP of indulging in dirty politics to defame him.
