According to reports, BJP district President Shrikant Gautam and two others were going to Lucknow to attend a meeting when they stopped at a roadside eatery. They were injured after an explosion took place when a driver threw a gas cylinder, which had caught fire, off the vehicle parked nearby.

The injured have been admitted to the Trauma Centre in the King George's Medical University (KGMU) where their condition was said to be stable.
