Tell us about your journey.
Slow an steady wins the race ! It’s been great journey i have learnt a lot and I’m very happy with the progress in life .
Who do you get inspired by and how did you get into music?
Music has always been an inspiration from the ladies at home starting from my mother to my grandmother and grate grandmother. So whatever talent I have in music is all thanks to them.
How much time do you get to spend with your family amid your busy schedule?
One can never be too busy for family and should always give time to them! I always make sure I do because I start missing them a lot !
What is your take on the culture of remixes in Bollywood?
I think it’s supper cool. I would like to give you the example of denims. Denim will always be denims. We just keep wearing it in different styles, so remixes are also important so that the new generation can enjoy the classic melody with a new track.
What do you think of reality shows on singing like Indian Idol, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, The Voice, etc?
I think they are a great platform for people who want to sing and it’s a great way to open up and showcase your talent .
What are your upcoming projects?
I have 7 releases coming up in 2021, 2 singles of mine with T-series and rest are all film songs as playback . Also completed a film by Vikas Khanna in which Shabana Azmi ji has played my mother and it was a great experience sharing screen with her . Really looking forward to all my work in 2021. It’s a big year for me .
What is usually the creative process of writing a song/verse and then compose it?
Creativity doesn’t really have a process. It’s something which can come to you at any given time.
Is it difficult to maintain a normal life because people recognise you everywhere you go?
Ummm, sometimes it is but then again I guess that’s what I signed up for!
What’s your take on nepotism in Bollywood?
The relationship between an actor and the camera sees no family background or where you are from. It’s completely between you and the camera so no matter what you will only be successful if you have the talent .
Bollywood music till the 70s was brilliant and even today those songs are recalled and enjoyed. Does our music industry lack talent now to create such forever green melodies?
Not at all! Those times were different and that’s why certain melodies become historic in music, just like 20 or 30 years from now some of today’s songs will also become golden melodies too! Good wine takes many years to mature.
