Tell us about your journey. How did you get into acting?
I have always been a performer. I used to participate in every single dance performance happening in my school, society, anywhere around. When my mom enrolled me to learn Kathak, I was introduced to drama and instantly fell in love with acting. Later I saw Madhubala as Anarkali in Mughal-e-Azam and realized, I wanted to act on screen. I started giving auditions at the age of 13 and have been doing so since then.
If you were not an actor, what would you aspire to be?
Someone related to art for sure. I love films and filmmaking, so I would’ve definitely worked around the same field !
What are your upcoming projects?
I am filming for something, which is very close to my heart, the makers will make announcements soon!
You are playing a character of Lesbian in alt Balaji web series. Do you think making movies or web series on this will change the attitude prevalent in our society?
Of course it will. Shattering stereotypes in any society is a slow process. I am glad we are taking steps to do so through the web also now. It will help in the long run.
Which type of character you prefer to do?
There is no preference as such, because I want to play any and every character out there. I try to pick roles which are different from my previous project, but yes a role which has layers to it and has a lot to do in a script would be my preference at all times!
Given COVID situation, do you think OTT has changed entertainment industry. Do you think digital platforms and cinemas can co-exist?
Yes, OTT is changing a great deal of how content can be consumed. It is a great change as this is a more democratic medium. But my first love is films. I want cinemas and digital platforms to co-exist. But given the current situation, at the moment web is definitely winning.
