‘Fauji Calling’ is a film about hope: Bidita Bag

It has been a privilege to be associated with a movie, which narrates a story of love, emotional bonds and strong family values. I’m essaying the role of an army officer’s wife. The soldier draws strength knowing that his wife, mother, father and his children will be there for each other even if he becomes a martyr. He looks forward to be reunited with his family and the strength to continue, to endure all the hardships and dangers that life throws at him every single day which comes from the sheer will and strength that he draws from his family.

‘Fauji Calling’ is a film about hope, about simple joys, promises kept and strangers becoming true supports. I think this is what prompted me to take up the script. I want to thank my director, producer, co actors and the entire crew for this film. We shot in beautiful yet difficult locations, put in a lot of effort and hard work, tried to tell an emotional story well.

He was extremely comfortable to work with. He immediately put me at ease. Even after being a very popular actor, he doesn’t have any air about himself. Though he has worked in so many films, he treated the project like a child with curiosity and we had a great experience working together. We were shooting at difficult locations where comforts like vanity van were also difficult. I found him to be extremely accommodating and wanting to finish the work at hand. And I also remember that when he shot for a really long day, I didn’t hear him complaining even once. We were shooting in difficult circumstances and in extreme weather conditions.

‘Fauji Calling’ is a film which is relevant in today’s time yet layered. Its about relations, about extreme strong emotional attachment between mother and child, the love between a husband and wife, companionship and respect between a mother and daughter-in-law and the gratitude and friendship that two hurt souls seek in each other. It is set against the backdrop of an army family and the trials and tribulations this family goes through. Family they say is the very pillar of all our lives even more so for a soldier, who fights for the safety and security of his motherland, unsure whether he will ever see his loved ones again. The film moves beautifully ahead holding on to a promise of the return of a soldier from his battle post, to the simple comfort of his village home and his old mother, young daughter and his wife. It depicts what the family endures when he is away and how they cope up with life and how he is present in their very essence without being there physically.
