The Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government in Rajasthan, which completed three years in office, has emerged as one of the high performing states in the country. The state govt has, in particular, won the hearts of the masses with its several welfare schemes for a cross section of the society. These have not only brought succor and happiness to them but also connected them with the mainstream of development.
Under the pandemic situation, the state focused on various healthcare schemes that were accorded high priority. The state government, led by an experienced Chief Minister, who is playing his third innings at the helm of affairs in Rajasthan, has addressed major concerns on health, education, environment, food security, upliftment of poor and downtrodden people, disabled, employment and other sectors.
Mukyamantri Chiranjivi Swasthya Bima Yojana
In an initiative to bring the common man, especially the poor and downtrodden section of the society, within the gamut of high tech and latest medical and health facilities, Government of Rajasthan has launched Chiranjeeve Swasthya Bima Yojana to provide healthcare and ensure good
health and well-being of its people. Cashless insurance of upto Rs 5 lakhs under a universal health scheme is provided for all the families of the state.
The ambitious Health Insurance Scheme is visualized to provide a hassle free cash less treatment, improved quality of care with efficiency to the beneficiaries. The poor, who otherwise have no access to high tech and expensive treatment, are being provided with an opportunity to get health services in private health institutions with super specialty medical facilities.
It provides free insurance to all families under BPL, NFSA and SECC categories.
As many as 772 government and 521 private hospitals have been connected with the scheme. Over 2.66 lakh beneficiaries have been provided free treatment and claims of Rs 340.56 crores have been submitted.

The Mukhyamantri Nishulk Dava Yojana has been started across the state in order to distribute generic medicines free of cost to all patients visiting government hospitals. Under the scheme, all the outdoor and indoor patients coming to the government hospitals are being provided 971 free medicines including 713 types of medicines enlisted in the list of necessary medicines, 181 surgical and 77 sutures. Over Rs 400 crore have been incurred under the scheme during the year 2021-2022 so far.
To provide complete treatment facilities free of cost to all patients visiting government hospitals, the state government has also started free diagnostic scheme. The scheme has been started in the public interest with a view to make available whole treatment free in government hospitals.
Under the scheme, 90 types of tests are being provided in hospitals affiliated to medical colleges and medical institutions, 56 in district, ‘up zila’, satellite hospitals, 37 in community health centres,15 in primary health centers and dispensaries.
Nirogi Rajasthan Abhiyan
It has been started to generate awareness about different diseases and sort out the health related problems of all the citizens and take measures for the prevention and treatment of the diseases. Under the campaign, over 79, 731 swasthya mitras have been imparted training for the villages and 14,083 swasthya mitras have been trained for unban wards
Ghar Ghar Aushadhi Yojana
The Ghar Ghar Aushadhi Yojana of the state government has been started to promote and help conserve medicinal plants and help people understand the importance of herbs and plants around them for health. Over Rs 210 crores will be incurred on the distribution of over 30 crore medicinal plants during five years.
Under the first phase of the scheme, over 32 lakh kits of medicinal plants have been distributed. The mega scheme plans to reach out to 1.26 crore families. Under the scheme, saplings of four herbs Tulsi, Ashwagandha, Giloy and Kalmegh are being distributed. These plants have traditionally been used in health supplements and in herbal medicines.

Mahatma Gandhi Rajkiya Vidyalaya
The state govt decided to open Mahatma Gandhi Rajkiya Vidyalaya (English Medium) from standard 1st to 12th on the eve of the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Now over 553 such schools are functioning across the state.
Looking at the popularity of these schools, the Chief Minister has announced the opening of 1200 of these English medium schools in all the villages of over 5000 population.
Indira Rasoi scheme
In order to ensure that ‘Nobody should Sleep Hungary’, Indira Rasoi Yojana was inaugurated on 20th August 2020 with the provision of annual budget of Rs 100 crores. Under the scheme, beneficiaries are being provided quality and nutritional food to the poor and needy at the rate of Rs 8 through 358 kitchens set up in all the 213 city wards. The state government is providing the subsidy of Rs 12 per ‘Thali’. Over 4.3 crore persons have benefited from the scheme till September this year.
Ek Rupey Kilo Gehun
The state government has started an innovative scheme ‘Ek Rupey kilo Gehun’ to provide 1 kg of wheat at Re one to Antyodaya, BPL and state BPL beneficiaries. Under National Food Security scheme, 35 kg of wheat is being provided to the ration card holders and Antyodaya beneficiaries of state BPL category.
Under the scheme, over 1 crore 74 lakh beneficiaries are being provided wheat at the rate of Re one kg instead of Rs 2 per kg.
Mukhyyamantri Yuva Sambal Yojana
This scheme has been started to provide assistance to the graduate unemployed youth. Under the scheme, there is a provision of providing unemployment allowance of Rs 3000 per month to the eligible graduate unemployed youth and Rs 3500 to the woman, disabled and transgender category for up to two years. Over 2.52 lakh youth have benefitted from this up to August 2021. A payment of Rs 1115 crore 82 lakhs have been made as unemployment allowance during the period.
Mukhyamantri Kanyadaan Yojana
The scheme has been started to provide financial support for the marriage of those girls who are financially weak. Assistance of Rs 31,000 is being provided for the marriage of 18 years or above girls of BPL families of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and minorities.
Similarly, assistance of Rs 21,000 is being provided to the girls of all the BPL, Antyodaya families, Astha cardholder families, widows, disabled persons, sports woman etc. There is a provision of providing an assistance of Rs 10,000 to the girls of all categories who have passed 10th standard and Rs 20,000 to the girls who have passed graduation. Over five thousand girls have benefitted up to August this year under the scheme.
Mukhyamantri Vishesh Yogyajan Samman Pension Yojana
Under the scheme, pension is provided to the disabled persons suffering from blindness, short sightedness, leprosy, physically handicap, mentally retarded, transgender etc whose annual income is upto Rs 60,000. There is a provision of providing Rs 750 to a woman of less than 55 years of age and a man of less than 58 years of age.
Similarly, pension of Rs 1000 is provided to women of more than 55 years of age and men of over 58 years of age. Pension of Rs 1250 is provided to pensioners aged over 75 years and Rs 15000 is provided to the leprosy free disabled of any age.
An assistance of Rs 270 crore has been provided up to August this year under the scheme.
It is the priority of the state government to ensure the overall development of the most underprivileged sections of society by delivering the benefits of schemes to them and work tirelessly for the overall development of the state and the welfare of the people. The present government is making tangible efforts to formulate appropriate and innovative strategies to promote and facilitate large scale livelihood for the youth among other sections of society.
