WATCH: Patna flooded after incessant rains #BiharRains

Incessant rains over the last 48 hours have created a flood-like situation in Bihar's capital Patna, with water entering residential areas and even hospitals in several parts of the city.

The water logging has caused traffic jams and disrupted normal life. The city has received 18.5 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours.

The situation shows the inefficiency of the capital city’s drainage system, with many residents venting out their anger on social media. They slammed the Nitish Kumar government for not making any improvement in the city’s drainage system over the last 15 years.

However, the ordeal for the residents of Patna and other parts of the state is not over yet. The weatherman has predicted more rainfall in the next 24 hours. Low pressure and heavy rainfall will move towards Kishanganj after tomorrow evening. As per Skymet forecast, heavy rains are likely to continue over the state on Saturday and Sunday.

The local authorities have sounded a flood alert in at least 13 districts in North Bihar for the next three days as heavy to extremely heavy rains are likely to continue.

Schools have been ordered shut in several districts including Darbhanga, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Sheikhpura and West Champaran.
