Watch: Jignesh Mevani blames BJP, RSS for attack on Umar Khalid

Shortly after a gun shot was fired at JNU student Umar Khalid in the heart of Delhi on Monday, August 13, Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani took to Twitter to say “No one other than people from BJP and RSS can attack Umar Khalid”.

“They were making him vulnerable. This is because there has been attack on Umar Khalid today. I clearly believe that this act has been carried out by the same people who killed Gauri Lankesh, Dabholkar ji, Pansare and Kalburgi. No one other than people from BJP and RSS can attack Umar Khalid. I not only condemn this, but our respected Prime Minister should speak about it and provide police protection. Last month, for four day continuously, I have received death threats which also included the names of Umar Khalid and Shehla Rashid. Despite this, our police protection has not been improved. This means that our government and BJP and Sangh want people like us to be killed,” said Mevani in his video message.
