In view of the upcoming by-elections in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress has decided to constitute committees to galvanize the organisation in every district. UP Congress president Ajay Kumar Lallu constituted these committees today which will also take call on candidates.
“As part of the electoral preparation, committees have been formed to take applications from every seat. The committees, headed by senior state leaders, will select the candidates and send the list to president for approval,” Congress spokesman Virendra Madan said.
The committee for Ghatampur (Reserved) seat comprises former Union Minister Pradeep Jain Aditya, former minister RK Chaudhary and UP Congress vice president Yogesh Dixit while the committee for Malhani seat includes former MLAs Ajay Rai and Ram Jiahwan and UP Congress general secretary Maqsood Khan.

The responsibility of Deoria Sadar seat has been given to former MLA Nadeem Javed, former MP Balakrishna Chauhan and party general secretary Vishwavijay Singh while the committee for Bangarmau seat comprises MLA from Kanpur Cantt and state vice president Suhail Akhtar Ansari, former MLA Sanjeev Daryabadi and UP Congress general secretary Vivekanand Pathak.
The responsibility for Tundla seat has been given to senior leader and former minister Nasimuddin Siddiqui, former minister Deepak Kumar and state general secretary Badruddin Qureshi.
The responsibility for Naugawan Sadat has been entrusted to former MP Praveen Singh Airon, MLA Mr Naresh Saini, state general secretary Ali Yusuf Ali while the committee for Bulandshahr seat includes former MP Harendra Malik, MLA Masood Akhtar and general secretary Vidit Chaudhary.

The committee for Swar Rampur Assembly constituency includes former MP Rashid Alvi, former MLA Narendra Pal Gangwar and Congress general secretary Brahmwaroop Sagar.

The by-elections for the eight assembly seats – Naugawan Sadat (Amroha), Bulandshahr, Tundla (Firozabad), Swar (Rampur), Bangarmau (Unnao), Ghatampur (Kanpur Dehat), Malhani (Jaunpur) and Deoria Sadar – are expected to be held in the near future although the official schedule is yet to be released.
