It all started with this tweet by one Abishek Mishra on Friday, April 20, saying he cancelled an Ola cab booking because the driver was Muslim and he don't want to give his money to “Jihadi People”. Mishra’s Twitter profile suggested he is a member of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. He is also followed by Union ministers, including Nirmala Sitharaman and Rajyavardhan Rathore.

The Ola Cabs company itself gave a superb response to Mishra’s communal tweet, saying “Ola, like our country, is a secular platform, and we don't discriminate our driver partners or customers basis their caste, religion, gender or creed. We urge all our customers and driver partners to treat each other with respect at all times. ”

While Ola got much praise on Twitter, it also gained news users, with many impressed netizens downloading its app. Mishra was roundly slammed on Twitter, but also received support from some handles.
