With the aim of revamping the party in Uttar Pradesh ahead of next assembly election, Congress announced a new team for the state.
Ajay Kumar Lallu, a native of Kushinagar district and leader of the Congress Legislature Party, has been appointed as the president of the party in one of the most politically crucial states of India. He replaces Raj Babbar as the state president
Lallu, who is considered close to Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, is known to be a grassroots leader. Along with him, a team of almost 40 young dynamic leaders has also been announced.

According to the release issued by the party, different communities have been given representation according to their proportion in the population.
The OBC category which comprises almost 50 % of the total population of the most populous state, has been given maximum representation after the revamp. Similarly, Dalits, upper castes and Muslims have been given representation in new team in proportion to their population in the state.

Congress has also appointed an advisory council to the party’s UP general secretary Priyanka Gandhi, and a strategy group of eight leaders headed by Priyanka Gandhi.
Aradhana Misra has been appointed as the leader of Uttar Pradesh Congress Legislative Party.
