Sushant Singh Rajput had admitted there is nepotism in Bollywood, but “it’s everywhere,” he said

The sudden demise of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput on June 14 has left not only the Bollywood but all of the Hindi film lovers in shock. An ugly debate over nepotism in Bollywood has erupted on social media. Most of the fans and people from within the film industry and outside of it have strongly criticised nepotism and have been even blaming it for Sushant’s suicide.

Unlike many actors in Bollywood, Sushant Singh was not from a film family nor did he have a God father. He struggled on his own to make a way to the top. But there are many other actors as well who have struggled long and hard to make a place for themselves in the film industry.

And Sushant Singh Rajput was not the one who kept mum on nepotism in the industry.

Sushant had very honestly and openly admitted at an awards show a few years ago saying, “nepotism is there, it’s everywhere, not just in Bollywood. You can’t do anything about it. Nepotism can co-exist and nothing would happen but at the same time, if you deliberately don’t allow the right talent to come up, then there is a problem. Then the whole structure of the industry would collapse one day. But till then, it’s fine.”

Nepotism can co-exist with all the talented people also and you will get wonderful films because then they will be competing with each other and that would raise the performance, he added.

A native from Patna, Bihar, Sushant Singh Rajput did his higher education from Delhi. He started his career from a television show named Pavitra Rishta which was a hit and made him a recognising face.

Then he debut in Bollywood with Kai Po Che in 2013. Films like MS Dhoni The Untold Story, Sonchiriya, Chhichhore, Kedarnath and many more revealed that he was a true artist and a charismatic performer.

His fans and loved ones can still see him for the last time on big screens as his last film Dil Bechara, directed by Mukesh Chhabra, is yet to be released.
