Shamli became the 18th district of Uttar Pradesh where state government ordered lockdown after a person was found infected with coronavirus, officials said.
This is the first case in Saharanpur division and 34th case of Covid 19 in UP.
The King George’s Medical College said on Tuesday that Shahnawaz ,33, a native of Kairana was detected with Coronavirus. The patient had returned from Dubai on March 15 and was under quarantine since then in his home. The patient only complained of sore throat .

The Shamli district authorities took the samples of the patient on March 21 and the same were sent to KGMU, Lucknow.
The district administration of Shamli has appealed to the people to follow the
lockdown orders which were enforced at 0900 hours from Tuesday and asked the people not to come out of their houses.

The districts where lockdown was declared earlier are: Lucknow, Kanpur, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Moradabad, Agra , Prayagraj, Aligarh, Bareilly, Varanasi, Meerut , Azamgarh , Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, and Lakhimpur Kheri. Plibhit was added to this list as 17th district on Monday evening after a 45-year-old woman, who returned from Saudi Arabia after attending Umra, has tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus.
The government official said that a 30 year old man who had returned from Saudi Arabia tested novel coronavirus positive on Monday.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh government has decided to set up 51 COVID-19 hospitals in the state which could provide over 11,000 isolation beds within a week.
Official sources said that among the 51 COVID-19 hospitals , 24 are the government medical colleges and rest are 27 private medical colleges.
These hospitals would identify a separate building and medical staff for the COVID- 19 hospital where they will make arrangements for 200 isolation beds and at least 20 ventilators.
