Shahjahanpur incident: SC asks Yogi govt to constitute SIT, directs Allahabad HC to monitor the investigation

Supreme Court directs Chief Secretary of UP to constitute a Special Investigation Team to probe the grievances and apprehensions expressed by the LLM student who had gone missing after levelling allegations of harassment against Swami Chinmayanand.

Supreme Court request Allahabad High Court to constitute a Bench to monitor the investigation.

Court has clarified that it is not expressing any opinion on the correctness of the grievances and apprehensions.

The Supreme Court retains the suo motu petition with itself only on the limited aspect of ensuring that the studies of the girl are not discontinued or disturbed
