Senior Congress leader Prof Saifuddin Soz condoles death of noted Dogri poet Padma Sachdev

Former Union minister and senior Congress leader Prof. Saifuddin Soz has condoled the death of noted Dogri poet Padma Sachdev.

“I feel extremely sad at the death of a great Dogri Poet, Padma Sachdev. I had the privilege of knowing her closely. I can say categorically that she was a peoples’ poet. Padma Sachdev’s famous Dogri poem “Raja Deya Mandiyan Tundeya Nai’ became a hit and it carried a message to the common people. The crux of that poem was that all palaces, grand govt. buildings and estates ultimately belonged to the people,” he said in a media statement issued on Thursday.

“The greatest trait in Padma Sachdev’s character was her gratefulness for even small courtesies that were offered to her by her friends. Until her last breath, she remembered how once Kashmir’s prominent chest specialist, late Dr. Hafeezullah, had treated her for her tuberculosis,” he added.

“Everybody will agree that she was an embodiment of secular culture and human values. The people of Jammu and Kashmir have lost a very noble member of the fraternity. May her soul rest in peace,” Soz said.
