RSS hand in Judge Loya SC petition, alleges Congress

RSS general secretary and operational head Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi was behind one of the Public Interest Litigation petitions filed for a probe into the death of CBI Special Judge BH Loya, alleged the Congress on Thursday.

The Supreme Court of India is right in observing that several PILs are politically motivated, said Congress. It referred to one Suraj Lolage from Nagpur, who had shared the dias with Congress leaders Kapil Sibal and Salman Khurshid at a past press conference. The party said it was shocked to learn that Lolage was actually from the BJP and had close links with the RSS.

Lolage and Satish Uike had travelled from Nagpur to share incriminating details about the mysterious death of CBI Special Judge BH Loya in Nagpur in 2014. Both of them shared the dias at a press conference addressed by Congress leaders to highlight the various aspects of the PIL seeking an independent probe by a SIT into the death.

Information in the form of phone conversations purportedly between Lolage and Pradeep Uike, brother of Satish Uike, have now surfaced to indicate that Lolage was one of the first to file a PIL seeking a probe at the behest of Bhaiyyaji Joshi.

In the phone conversations conducted in Marathi, Lolage admits that he was directed by Joshi through one Kotekar to file the PIL and not to withdraw it before the Supreme Court under any pressure.

It is possible that Joshi, the second most powerful man in the RSS, orchestrated the PIL and ensured that the hearings take place in the Supreme Court so as to get a desired verdict, suspect Congress leaders.

Congress released a receipt from the BJP for processing Lolage’s application to contest for the Nagpur Municipal Corporation and a photograph of Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis addressing a meeting with a banner in the background carrying the name and telephone number of Lolage.

The Congress also wondered why Lolage was the first one to file a PIL within days of Caravan magazine publishing a detailed account of judge Loya’s death and doubts raised about it.

While Lolage filed the PIL in November, 2017, all other petitions seeking an inquiry into the judge’s death were filed much later in 2018.

The Supreme Court this month dismissed the petitions and declared that judge Loya’s death was natural. The apex court also prohibited any court from taking up any similar petition on the subject.
