In Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow, two Kashmiri dry fruit vendors were thrashed on Wednesday by group of men belonging to a right-wing group. The police has arrested a person who is seen assaulting the Kashmiri man in the video.
According to a report in NDTV, The incident took place at 5 pm on Wednesday at Daliganj in central Lucknow. The group of men who assaulted the Kashmiri traders can be heard in video saying that they are doing it because they belong to Kashmir.
Several local residents came to the rescue of dry fruit vendor and stopped mean waring saffron from further assaulting him. Kashmiri men who were beaten have been selling dry fruits in Lucknow for several year.
"A case has been filed in the Hazratganj police station. A search is on for the accused. An investigation will be done," police officer Amit Kumar said.
The main accused, who claims to be the president of the Vishwa Hindu Dal, has not been arrested yet. He has been posting updates on Facebook. The video of the assault that he shared on Facebook has been taken down, but the video has gone viral on twitter.
