Punjab announces lockdown across the state till March 31

To prevent the spread of Coronavirus, Punjab CM Capt. Amarinder Singh on Sunday issued orders for shutdown of all non-essential services, businesses with immediate effect till March 31

To prevent the spread of dread Coronavirus, the Punjab issued a complete lockdown in the state just 12 hours after Rajastha. Punjab Chief Minister  Capt. Amarinder Singh on Sunday issued orders for shutdown of all non-essential services and businesses with immediate effect till March 31 to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

According to a senior government official, all the Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superindendents of Police have been directed to issue relevant orders and implement the restrictions with immediate effect.

After the death of a 70-year-old person in Nawanshahar district due to the Coronavirous and testing 14 others positive for the virus, the government on  Saturday had ordered shutdown in  several districts including Jalandhar, Nawanshahar, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Patiala and Bathinda till Wednesday.

The new order has put in place a shutdown till March 31 all across Punjab.

Apprehending that the toll may witness a steep rise in the state especially in Doaba belt which has a major population of Non Resident Indians.

Though the government has put the government machy in place to tackle the situation yet the Chief Minister does not want to take any chance and is personally monitoring the situation.
