Showing utter disregard for the great revolutionary Bhagat Singh, the Modi government not only refused to debate a private member resolution seeking an employment guarantee act for youth in the name of Bhagat Singh but also deflected the entire issue by bringing Shaheen Bagh discourse in between, alleged CPI leader Binoy Viswam.
Rajya Sabha member, Viswam moved a private member resolution on Friday asking for debate in the upper house but members of the ruling party began questioning the authenticity of the data provided by him and ridiculed the whole idea by calling it a “statistical Shaheen Bagh”.

Viswam told NH that while many members of the opposition bench supported the move, they criticized the government’s policies at the same time “that have resulted in the present state of the economy”.
“Such critique and debates are a part of the natural proceedings in any parliamentary debate. However, the ruling party and its Government, in an attempt to divert the issue and hide its own failures, began questioning the authenticity of all statistics on unemployment and accused the opposition of politicising the issue by terming it a ‘statistical Shaheen Bagh’,” added Viswam.

Slamming the Modi government for having an “intolerant approach” towards the unemployed youth of the country, Viswam accused the BJP leader and Union Minister Giriraj Singh for resorting to unruly and unparliamentary behaviour.
“He began furiously shouting against Shaheen Bagh and antagonizing the house. The opposition continued its protest against such unparliamentary behaviour and eventually the house was adjourned,” noted Viswam.
“The crippling state of the economy and the rapidly increasing rate of unemployment in the country is a reality to everyone who lives in this country. It is unfortunate that the government has chosen to be blind to these realities and instead employed every divisionary tactic to mislead the people of India,” said Viswam.
