The winter session of the Parliament which will commence on December 11 is about to begin. The entire mood in the corridors of power now depends on the elections in five states. It will conclude on January 8, 2019. Forty six bills have to be introduced during the session that will last for only twenty days. The election results in the five states are due on December 11 and if they are not favour of the BJP, then the government will have to face high resistance from the opposition and disgruntled NDA allies at every step inside as well as outside the Parliament.
The ordinances on Triple Talaq and National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam have to be presented in both the houses as Bills to get the approval of the parliament in this session only. A big problem for the government is that both the main allies of the BJP in Bihar—Ram Vilas Paswan and Nitish Kumar are not in favour of the Triple Talaq Bill. The Akali Dal has also been neutral. While, on the issue of Ram Mandir movement by the BJP, Paswan has openly been attacking the Modi government.
