Haryana Congress chief Kumari Selja has said that the BJP-JJP Haryana government has failed miserably at every front and advised Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to quit on moral grounds.
She questioned the Khattar government, which claims to have established “Ram Rajya in Haryana” for its inability to convince the farmers, protesting against the NDAs three farm laws, for the last over one and a half years.
“The BJP-JJP led government in Haryana has set up a new ‘benchmark’ to treat the protesters, especially farmers, with lathis and water cannons. Haryana had never seen such terrible days when farmers were lathi-charged for demanding their rights,” Selja said.
Selja alleged that the Union and the state government are trying to impose an RSS agenda in the country. She was talking to media persons at an induction function of newly appointed office bearers of the Legal Department of Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee in Chandigarh on Saturday.
She was accompanied by former Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan, National General Secretary, Legal Department, AICC Vipul Maheshwari, and Lal Bahadur Khowal, Chairman Legal Department, HPCC among others.
“Today the constitutional rights of the people are being crushed. Advocates against this will have to come forward and protect the Constitution,” she said while addressing advocates as the Chief Guest at the induction ceremony. During the program, appointment letters were formally handed over to the newly-appointed office bearers of the department.
Selja said that since the independence of the country, lawyers have made an incomparable contribution to its development. “Before independence, whether we talk about Lala Lajpat Rai or Mahatma Gandhi, the first Prime Minister of the country Jawaharlal Nehru, the architect of the Constitution Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar or Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, all of them acted as advocates for the independence and development of the country and made big contributions. But ever since the BJP government was formed, there has been a campaign to implement the RSS agenda bypassing the Constitution,” she said.
Kumari Selja said that so far the internet has been banned 16 times in Haryana in districts like Jind, Panipat, Kaithal, Kurukshetra. “India is far ahead in the world in terms of internet ban. The internet has been banned about 32 times in the country so far this year,” she said.
“Due to the shutdown of internet service, not only does the common man have to face problems, but the economic system of the country also has to suffer a lot. In 2020, there was internet ban for 8,927 hours due to which the government suffered financial loss of about Rs 20,000 crore. Modi ji and his Hindu nationalist BJP government are directly to blame for all this,” she said.
