ABP News has reported on Monday, September 24 that Padma Shukla, a minister in the Madhya Pradesh BJP government led by Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has quit the Bharatiya Janata Party and will join the Congress party.
Shukla, who is the Madhya Pradesh Public Welfare Board chief, will meet state Congress President Kamal Nath Chhindwara today and take membership of Congress party, said ABP News.
A minister quitting the party with just two months to go for assembly elections, will come as a huge blow to the BJP and affect party worker’s morale.
The article said that the reasons for Shukla’s quitting BJP are not yet known. However, ground reports and surveys have been suggesting that Chouhan and BJP are struggling against massive anti-incumbency, and Congress is poised to win Madhya Pradesh after 15 years.
