Former Indian footballer Laishram Manitombi Singh passed away on Sunday. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) condoled the death of Manitombi.
He was a member of the Indian squad that triumphed the LG Cup at the Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam in 2002. The former international player was 39 when he passed away.
The right full-back came off the bench against hosts Vietnam on August 6, 2002 to make his international debut. Besides representing India in that tournament, he played in two friendlies against Jamaica at Watford and Wolverhampton.

A record number of over 7 lakh samples of COVID-19 were tested in the last 24 hours taking the total tests conducted to 2,41,06,535, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Sunday.
A total of 7,19,364 tests were conducted increasing its frequency by more than a lakh from the previous day when 5,98,778 tests were conducted.
The ministry said that such high level of testing would also lead to a high number of daily positive cases. However, states have been advised to firmly focus on comprehensive tracking, prompt isolation and effective treatment.
It also added that such an approach has started showing results and recoveries are also increasing exponentially.

As many as 1,734 new coronavirus cases were reported along with 13 COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours in Odisha, taking its case tally to 45,927 and death toll due to the disease to 272, the Health Department said on Sunday.
Six new deaths were reported in Ganjam district, two in Koraput district and one each in Balasore, Bhubaneswar, Khordha, Bargarh, and Nayagarh district.

Forty-four Constables who attended a passing- out parade on July 30 at the Reserve Police Lines in Pratapgarh district have now tested positive for coronavirus, an official said on Sunday.
The parade was held after the newly recruited Constables completed their training at the Recruitment Training Centre at Reserve Police Lines.
The samples of 199 constables who participated in the parade were later got tested at a special COVID-19 camp organised at the Reserve Police on Thursday.

Gujarat recorded 1,101 fresh coronavirus cases on Saturday, sending its tally up to 69,986, while 23 more deaths took its toll to 2,629.

Israel's Ministry of Health has reported 1,333 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, bringing the total number to 82,324.
According to the ministry, the death toll reached 593 with 12 new fatalities, while the number of patients in serious condition rose from 369 to 388, out of 807 patients currently hospitalised, Xinhua reported.
The number of recoveries reached 57,071, with 1,758 new ones, while the number of active cases dropped to 24,658.
Earlier in the day, many Israeli shop owners reopened their businesses, after a decision by the Israeli cabinet on Thursday to lift the weekend restriction.

The Chilean Ministry of Health reported on Saturday that 53 more deaths from COVID-19 were registered in the past 24 hours, bringing the national death toll to 10,011.
According to the ministry's daily report, 2,201 new cases were reported in the same period, taking the total caseload to 371,023, Xinhua reported.
Of the new cases, 1,511 presented symptoms and 604 were asymptomatic.

The Gurugram health department has busted a sex-determination racket operating from Bahadurgarh in Jhajjar, police officials said on Saturday.
One person was arrested in connection with the case.
Virender Yadav, the civil surgeon of Gurugram said: "We have learnt from our sources that one person named Rajesh Kumar was involved in sex-determination activities through a lady doctor of Jhajjar.
"Subsequently, we took the help of a pregnant woman. As per the plan, she approached Rajesh and set the deal of sex-determination at Rs 25,000," Yadav said.

cylinder blast was reported in a house in JJ Camp in Tigri in south Delhi on Saturday evening. At least six people, including a woman, were injured in the blast. Their condition is said to be out of danger.
"We received a call at around 7 pm and immediately eight fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The fire was brought under control," said Atul Garg, Director, Delhi Fire Service.
"A cooking gas cylinder explosion was allegedly reported in a jhuggi at JJ Camp Tigri. One lady and 5-6 other persons were injured," said DCP South, Atul Thakur.
All the injured persons have been shifted to a hospital.
"The residents of the house rushed out to save themselves as soon as the cylinder caught fire. Later, it exploded, causing injuries to the residents. The house is fully damaged," said a resident of the area.
