Two Maoists, including a woman, were killed during an exchange of fire with security forces in Swabhiman Anchal of Odisha's Malkangiri district on Sunday.
The incident took place in Gajalmamudi area of Swabhiman Anchal during an exchange of fire between the Maoists and the Special Operations Group (SOG), said DGP Abhay.
The SOG team retaliated after the Maoists opened fire on them, said the DGP. A huge cache of explosives and Maoist articles were seized by the security personnel from the spot.

Due to overnight partial cloud cover across J&K and Ladakh, night temperatures dropped further as Drass town recorded minus 17.6 degrees Celsius and Gulmarg ski resort recorded minus 7.6 degrees Celsius as minimum temperatures on Sunday.
"Weather is expected to remain mainly dry during this week and due to clear night the minimum temperatures are likely to drop further in J&K and Ladakh," an official of the MeT department said.
Srinagar recorded 0.1, Pahalgam minus 3.2 and Gulmarg minus 7.6 degrees as minimum temperatures on Sunday.

At least 15 people, including eight children, suffered serious burn injuries when an LPG cylinder caught fire at a house in Unnao district.
The incident took place on Saturday evening in the Salempur Karowan village under the Kotwali police station.
Superintendent of Police Unnao, Sureshrao A. Kulkarni, said, "The incident took place at the house of one Manoj Sonker where a leakage from an LPG cylinder led to a fire. Several fire tenders were pressed into the service to douse the blaze. The injured were immediately rushed to the district hospital, where doctors have said that the condition of two is critical.

Two persons have been arrested for allegedly raping a seven-year-old girl in a village under the Budhana police circle.
The minor had gone missing for some hours, after which her family started searching for her.
She was found unconscious and bleeding on the roof of a nearby house, late on Friday night.
Circle officer (CO) Girija Shanker Tripathi said, "A case has been registered against the two accused under the Indian Penal Code Section 376D (gang rape) and the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act."

A 21-year-old woman has lodged an FIR for rape and forced religious conversion at the Shahabad police station in Hardoi.
This is the fifth FIR registered under the new law under which as many as 28 persons have been booked till now in Sitapur, Mau, Bareilly and Muzaffarnagar.
The complainant has alleged that she was in a relationship with one Mohammed Azad of Shahabad for two years.

The US has set yet another record for single-day COVID cases after more than 244,000 people tested positive for the virus, as the country, currently the hardest-hit by the pandemic, is preparing the distribution of the first vaccine against the disease.
In its latest update on Saturday, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported 244,011 new cases and 3,013 fatalities, which increased the overall infection tally and death toll to 16,045,596 and 297,789, respectively.
The new data brought the seven-day average daily case increase to a record-high of more than 209,000 cases, and the seven-day average daily death increase to nearly 2,400, highest since late April.

The overall number of global coronavirus cases has topped 71.6 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 1.60 million, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
In its latest update on Sunday, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed that the current global caseload and death toll stood at 71,623,753 and 1,603,577, respectively.
The US is the worst-hit country with the world's highest number of cases and deaths at 16,045,596 and 297,789, respectively, according to the CSSE.
