Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik issues new guidelines for Eid celebration and Friday prayers

Satya Pal Malik, Jammu and Kashmir Governor on Wednesday said that ₹1 lakh has been given to each designated liaison officer for organising Eid-ul-Adha festivities for students from the state who are pursuing study in other states and are unable to return back home for Eid amid security restriction in J&K.

J&K Governor passed directions for setting up telephone lines in deputy commissioners' offices for outstation students to talk to their families back home, in a meeting held at the Raj Bhavan in Srinagar

Malik also took stock of law and order status and provision of basic services and essential commodities to people. The Governor reviewed arrangements for enabling people to perform Friday prayers and for the celebration of Eid-ul-Adha in the coming week.

Officials present in the meeting told the governor that mandis will be set up at different locations in the Valley so that people can buy animals on the occasion of Eid, and ration shops, grocery and medicine stores have been asked to remain open on this occasion.

Governor reviewed the law and order scenario in the state and was informed that the overall situation in the state was satisfactory, with no untoward incident being reported from anywhere.
