Jamaat-e-Islami condemns Nankana violence and murder of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani

Condemning the violence around the Nankana Sahib in Pakistan, the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) on Saturday demanded strict action by Pakistan government against the perpetrators of this violence. Vice President of the JIH, Engineer Saleem said “it is the duty of the Government of Pakistan to ensure the safety, sanctity and security of the religious site and protect pilgrims and members of the Sikh community.”

At its monthly press briefing President of the JIH, Sadatullah Hussaini also demanded the dismissal of the Uttar Pradesh chief Minister. “He should be dismissed immediately as he failed to fulfil his constitutional responsibility,” he asserted.

Jamat-e-Islami Hind condemned the violence and high handedness of the Uttar Pradesh police on its own citizens in the name of controlling the anti-CAA protestors. Engineer Saleem criticising the statement of ‘Badla’ (revenge) against its own citizens by chief Minister Yogi Adityanath added, “it is in the interest of BJP also toremove Yogi Adityanath from the post of chief Minister”.

Replying to a question, he wondered why the Muslim community was singled out in UP when Jats agitating for ‘ reservation’ were not served any recovery notice while Railway property worth Crores were damaged in UP itself. He also questioned how recovery notices were issued even before a proper investigation could be carried out into last month’s violence.

He demanded an independent judicial inquiry into the violence.

While briefing the media, Saleem informed that JIH had written a letter to Chief Ministers of 21 states to ensure that Central Government make necessary changes in the Act of those provisions which are violative of the Constitution of India.

JIH questioned action of UP police against the protestors. JIH in its statement said “Video evidence shows UP police smashing CCTV cameras and then proceeding to vandalise homes, cars and other vehicles. There are more than 20 reported deaths, hundreds injured and thousands of unnamed people are booked under various sections so that police had an open license to arrest people randomly.” JIH demanded a high-level Judicial enquiry headed by a Supreme Court Judge.

JIH also questioned the addition of new columns in the 2020 NPR manual and called upon the Union Government to make necessary changes in the manual.

The JIH President said, “We are not against giving citizenship to any deprived or persecuted person but we are opposed to the religious criteria in it.” On the question of sharing platform with Shiv Sena in Mumbai on CAA, who is ideologically opposed to JIH, President of JIH said “ We have ideological differences with many including Shiv Sena and these difference will remain, but we are with these forces as they are opposing the CAA and are fighting to uphold the constitution.”

Replying to a question Hussaini said in Uttar Pradesh there is police terrorism and they have made the state a police state.

On rising tension in the Middle East after US forces killed the top level Iranian General JIH President said “JIH condemns the US attack and it is direct intervention in the internal affairs of any sovereign state. It is a broad daylight murder.”

The assassination of the Iranian General Soleimani has worsened the already volatile situation in the Middle East.
