Gujarat: PM Modi, BJP chief Amit Shah posters blackened

In Gujarat, posters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President Amit Shah and State Chief Minister Vijay Rupani wishing people on the occasion of Diwali have been blackened. The police has arrested a man in relation to the incident. The accused has been identified as a member of Patidar leader Hardik Patel's Patdar Anamat Agitation Committee (PAAS).

A case has been registered at the Poona and Sarathana police station. It is reported that the PAAS member was allegedly involved in the incident. The posters wishing people on the occasion of Diwali was put up by BJP legislator VD Zulia from Kamrej constituency.

On Wednesday, November 7, the police registered a case under section 153, 427 and 114 of the IPC. According to information received from the sources, police officials of Poona and Sarathana police were patrolling on Tuesday night when they noticed the smudged posters of Modi, Saha and Rupani. The poster also had photos of BJP MLA Jalwadiya and BJP state chief congratulating people on Diwali.

In order to avoid any untoward incident, the police removed those posters and lodged a complaint against unknown people. The police later arrested 21-year-old Nikunj Kakadiya. He is a member of Patidar community. Apart from this, six other people have been declared wanted.

Sarathna Police Inspector ND Chaudhary said, "In the posters, the BJP leaders faces, not belonging to the Patidar community, were blackened. These are the activity of some people who have the intention of disrupting law and order system. In this case, we immediately took cognizance and filed a case against Nikunj Kakadiya. He is an active member of PAAS. Apart from this, Nikunja has also provided the names of six people who were with him during this incident.
