Economy in crisis: Opposition to hold mega protest against Modi govt on Dec 1 during winter session

In the backdrop of rising unemployment and deepening economic crisis, as many as 13 political parties have come together and decided to hold a mega protest against the Modi government on December 1 in Delhi during the winter session of the Parliament.

Appealing all anti-BJP forces to join hands to defend “economic sovereignty” various leaders of the opposition parties slammed Modi government for mishandling of the economy.

Addressing media, senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said that “economy is in shambles” and all-important indicators of the economy are showing a gloomy picture.

“The government does not think about the economy. Mounting NPA has increased to ₹ 700000 crores and the contribution of agriculture to the economy is less than 3 %. Similarly, there is no clarity on the issue of the RCEP also” he said.

“Trade deficit between India and China is more than 70 billion US dollar. How will the government protect the interests of the Indian farmers and manufacturers?” asked Azad.

Former JDU president and Rajya Sabha MP Sharad Yadav said opposition parties will hold protest from street to the parliament on December 1.

Referring to Maharashtra and the Haryana assembly poll results, Yadav said that the people have shown the path. “Now leaders need to launch a united fight against the BJP inside the parliament and outside the parliament,” he said.

“Modi government does not have a single brain who understands the economy.They have only communal brains,” added Yadav.

RJD leader Manoj Jha said that hundreds of account holders have lost their hard-earned money in PMC bank scam. Nobody knows how long we will survive. Saying that the “economic sovereignty” of the country is in danger, Jha asserted that the opposition parties will fight tooth and nail to defend it.
