Delhi is observing third wave of COVID-19: CM Arvind Kejriwal

The concerns of Delhiites are consistently increasing as the Coronavirus cases is shooting in the national capital like never before.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also deemed it as the third wave of COVID-19.

Delhi reported over 6,700 fresh coronavirus infections on Tuesday, the highest single-day spike since the outbreak of the pandemic, taking total tally to over 4 lakh mark. The previous highest single-day spike was on October 30 when 5,891 people.

News agency ANI quoted Delhi CM as saying, there has been a rise in COVID19 cases. We can call this the third wave of COVID cases here. We are monitoring the situation, and will take all necessary actions.

Notably, the increase in the COVID cases was observed amid the festive season. While the Durga Puja celebrations ended on October 25 the next big festivals lined up is Diwali and Chhath in November.

Officials from the Union and the Delhi governments met on Monday and discussed a recalibration of testing, treating and surveillance strategies.

The National Centre for Disease Control has recently warned that Delhi should be prepared for 15,000 fresh cases per day reckoning winter season-related respiratory problems, large influx of patients from outside and festive gatherings.
