Deadly attack on Dr Kafeel Khan’s brother in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh

The brother of Dr Kafeel Khan, who was implicated in Gorakhpur BRD Medical College oxygen case, has been shot three times in a deadly assault in Gorakhpur and is is recovering in an ICU post-surgery

Kashif Jameel, the younger brother of Dr Kafeel Khan, who was in the news after Gorakhpur's BRD Hospital oxygen shortage case in which several infants died, was shot at on June 10 night in Gorakhpur.

At around 10.30 pm on Sunday night, Kashif Jameel was returning to his home on a two-wheeler after work. As soon as his bike reached the Kotwali police station after crossing the bridge near the Gorakhnath temple, two unknown bike riders fired several rounds at him. According to reports, Kashif Jameel has sustained three bullet injuries and has been admitted to a local hospital in critical condition.

Significantly, Dr Kafeel Khan and his family have consistently been making serious allegations of threat to the doctor and his family, ever since Dr Kafeel came out on bail in the BRD oxygen supply case. People reacted with shock to the news.

Dr Kafeel Khan says “Am not going to bend”

Early on Monday morning, Dr Kafeel Khan posted a video message on his Twitter handle saying an operation had been successful and Kashif Jameel was recovering in an ICU. Dr Khan added that the attack happened just 500 metre from the Gorakhnath temple, and questioned the state of law and order in Uttar Pradesh.
