Coronavirus scare in Haryana: 136 symptomatic cases kept in isolation across the state

The state health authorities have also deputed teams to locate some people who recently returned from China after getting their contact numbers from the Embassy

The continuous reporting of suspected patients of coronavirus has been giving sleepless nights to the Haryana health authorities since the outbreak of the disease in China.

Till today, as per the health authorities, 136 suspect cases of the virus have surfaced across Haryana, with many of them kept in isolation either in their respective homes or in the state-run healthcare institutions.

In last two days two students (one from Rohtak and another from Hissar), pursuing medical studies in China, have been admitted in government hospitals and kept in isolation wards.

On Tuesday, a suspected patient who is pursuing MBBS from China and had recently returned from there, was admitted to Civil Hospital Hissar.

According to hospital authorities the patient had returned from China in December and reached the hospital on February 3, complaining of fever and sore throat. His samples have been taken. Results are awaited, the hospital authorities said.

Another 27-year-old man from Rohtak, who is also pursuing medical studies from China, has been admitted to the PGI, Rohtak, with symptoms like coronavirus. The suspected patient returned from China on January 28, voluntarily got admitted to the PGI with headache, fever and sore throat, claimed Dr Manju Nath, who is attending to him.

Dr Nath claimed that the patient complained of mild fever and other symptoms but since he returned from China, he was admitted to the isolation ward for quarantine.

"We have also got information regarding three more symptomatic patients who have been advised isolation in their respective homes but are being constantly monitored," he claimed adding that the health authorities have been informed in this context.

Meanwhile, Dr Suraj Bhan Kamboj, Director General of Health Services, Haryana, said that 136 suspected cases of the coronavirus have surfaced in different parts of the state, of which eight are symptomatic. Reports received from Pune laboratory of the five suspected patients have been found negative while those of three are yet to arrive in next two-three days, he added.

The DGHS claimed that health teams have been constituted to keep a close watch on suspected patients who have been kept in isolation at different hospitals and in the houses of individuals.
